Probably my #1 favorite restaurant in downtown TC. There are many other great restaurants there, but my personal vote goes to them... I love the creative touch they add to the food & drink menu. The plate size is perfect for me - they are just the right amount so I can try several dishes including an appertizer or dessert.
If you are not vegetarian or don't like 'eclectic' food, this place may not be your favorite. But if you love to try something new and different, you will enjoy Poppycocks.

I have been going to Poppycocks for at least ten years.  It is my all time favorite restaurant in T.C. and I have lived here for 29 years.  Luscious food, friendly wait staff, consistency in quality and variety, ambience to knock your socks off  AND martinis-YUM!  My husband and I split a main entree for an additional $3.00 charge and the portions are just right!  Or, if you don't want the split charge, you can do it yourself!  The location right downtown is convenient to cute little shops all along Front Street.  You can't miss with this popular Traverse City eatery!

I love poppycocks!! Well....I love their martini's.
They have a huge martini menu and they are very reasonably priced. I wish I could review the food but every time I have eaten there it is after like 5 martinis...so....to be honest I don't remember.
My recommendation? Picture of Nectar. Possibly one of the best martini's that I have ever had and you even get a slice of peach!

I remember ordering pita chips (with wonderful hummus, hot cheese and salsa) when I worked next door at Dandelion. We'd sit on the counter after we closed that beast of a store, and relish in the lovliness that is Poppycock's pita chips. MMmmm, I still order them each and every time I dine there, which is about every single time I return home to Traverse City.
Back in the day, before TC was up with the yuppified drinks, Poppycock's was nearly the only place to get a good, hard martini. Creative ones. Beautiful ones. Accompanied by jazz....in a contemporary (albeit cozy) atmosphere that is unique and stylish. Hard to go wrong here :) And such tempting dessert in that front case, damn them.

The martinis are fantastic - John has created by far the best martini list in town. Pita chips are a close second. Great atmosphere, classy clientele, no smoking, live music that still lets you have a conversation. What more could you ask for?

I've only visited once, but I was annoying my husband with my "Mmmmms...."  I had the Thai Sweet Corn Cakes with a peanut sauce. Loved every bite. Very filling. The drink menu is fun and there are some cute, girly drinks that will tempt a feminine diner. Or a J.D.-type.  Ambiance is almost sexy in the evening. Sultry. Or maybe it was the cocktails. I'm ready for a return visit.

I was shocked that poppycock offered a vide array of vegetarian choices. The menu change regularly. The menu was unbelievable, I had a squash stuffed with couscous, pine nuts, sun dried tomatoes, and garnished with a saffron-chive cream sauce. YUM
